The QPLA Local Government Award provides an annual recognition of a Queensland Council that has demonstrated outstanding community service through delivery of a program or service.
The winners of the 2023 LG Awards were announced at the QPLA 2023 Professional Development Intensive, held in Noosa on Monday 16 October 2022. There were four very worthy nominations from across Queensland libraries.
Townsville Citylibraries took out the Gold Award with their Citylibraries Riverway Build and Grand Opening.
PD hosts, Noosa Libraries took out the Silver Award with Beyond the Walls – transforming a traditional Mobile Library service to a new multi-functional outreach service model, with Paroo Shire Council taking out the Bronze Award for The Evolution of Cunnamulla Library.
Ipswich Libraries rounded out the fourth nomination for their Picturing Your Past initiative.
