QPLA Board on Tour – Logan Central Library – Feb 2024

The February 2024 QPLA Board meeting was held at Logan Central Library, and it was the first of Logan’s libraries on our tour after the meeting. This branch has a focus on technology and resources, and it was bright, colourful, and busy with people enjoying all of the library spaces. The book tower around the lift at the front provided a spectacular entry and led to a fantastic Indigenous collection and yarning circle space.

Additionally, the local studies room was spacious and filled with treasures. Logan has made the effort to ensure as much of the collection as possible is publicly available and not hidden away. The collection is also themed, and not shelved according to Dewey, to make it more accessible to users.

Other highlights at Logan Central Library included the bright and cheery children’s section and Hive Central – a business space for working, co-working, networking, and collaborating. Logan Central Library was a great start to our tour which then moved on to Marsden Library.
