The Local Government Award is an annual award that recognises the Queensland Local Government that demonstrates outstanding community service through delivery of an individual program or service. This award is open to all QPLA member libraries and the QPLA Executive Board will consider one entry per member library service.
The winner is determined by the QPLA Executive Board based on how well the applicant’s submission addresses the criteria. The winners are announced annually at either the QPLA Conference, LEaD Professional Development Intensive, or Annual General Meeting.
In alignment with the changes to the membership structure to support RLQ/IKCs across Queensland, in 2024, there were (2) categories introduced for the Local Government Awards.
- Category 1 – Awarded to those councils with a population under 35,000
- Category 2 – Award to councils with a population above 35,000.
A highly commended certificate will be awarded for each category.
The winners will each receive $1,000.
