LOTE film classifications

Trish Hepworth, Director of Policy and Education at ALIA shared this update around LOTE film classifications last week. So good to see positive advocacy reaping great results. Well done ALIA and all involved – a fantastic outcome for our communities.

HOOROY! SUCCESS!

Fantastic news for public libraries today with Minister Michelle Rowland MP announcing intended reforms to support libraries to lend LOTE films. The changes to the classification act would mean a greater range of LOTE films would be able to be borrowed by people across Australia, Supporting in particular multicultural communities. This comes after years of advocacy (ALIA’s submission to this process went in in 2020) and it’s absolutely fantastic to see it moving. Thank you to all the people who have advocated across the years.
