The QPLA Board members have undertaken a number of library visits over the past six months. The Board is committed to getting out and meeting QPLA members where possible and practicable.
Although many of these visits have been in the South East region, the Board are hoping to extend the ability for Regional Reps and other Board members to spend more time with libraries in their regions over the next 12 months.
If you would like the Board to consider hosting a future meeting at your location, please email secretary@qpla.asn.au
Highfields Library – Toowoomba
QPLA held the December 2022 Board meeting at the new Highfields Library, graciously hosted by Tanya Jarvis and the Toowoomba Libraries team. This is a fabulous new space for the Highfields community with modern community meeting room facilities.
Brisbane Libraries – Brisbane Square Library
The QPLA Board held the January meeting at Brisbane Square Libraries – End Room. This has been a regular meeting location for the Board due to being centrally located. This location also provides the Board with close proximity to State Library of Queensland, which allows for regular meetings with SLQ’s Local Government Coordination team, as well as the Local Buy team.
Brisbane Libraries – Chermside Library
February’s QPLA Board meeting was hosted by Shelly Lausberg and the amazing team at Chermside Library. This is Brisbane’s busiest branch and many of the Board members had not previously visited this vibrant location, so a personalised tour was provided for the team.
Lockyer Valley Libraries – Laidley Library
QPLA had attempted to hold the QPLA Board meeting at Laidley on two separate occasions in 2022, however monsoonal rain and flooding meant this was not possible. The Board were delighted to finally make it to Laidley Library for the March Board meeting, hosted by Nic Kilah and the fabulous team at Laidley.
Ipswich Libraries – Rosewood Library
A quick stopover on the trip back from Laidley to the airport allowed the Board to check out the Rosewood Library. A big thank you to the Rosewood team for taking the time to answer a number of questions about this well-used facility.
