QPLA’s new Treasurer, Sharon Uthmann recently took time out to visit the Yeppoon Library.
Whilst on holiday on the Central Qld Coast, I visited Yeppoon Library. Yeppoon Library is located on John Street Yeppoon just back from the main tourist area. Co-located with a Community Centre, Education Centre, Landcare, Community Radio (Keppel FM), and a community garden, there could be no better place to have a library.
While there I introduced myself to the staff and explained that I was on holiday and am the new Treasurer of QPLA. Kasey, and her staff, and I had a lovely chat about their library service, community, challenges of regional libraries, and ideas around servicing areas that do not have nearby access to a public library. I learnt about their smaller branches at Marlborough and Mt Chalmers which I hope to visit next time I am up that way.
