TABLELANDS LIBRARY
For this edition of around the traps in North Queensland, I’m happy to share a good news story from Tablelands Regional Council Libraries.
A young regular user of Malanda Library (Tablelands Regional Council) recently provided the staff with a beautiful picture and letter about how he felt about the library service. He shared that our library collection is varied and appreciated by the younger community. He was also kind enough to mention that the library officers are very nice to him when he borrows books. It’s great to be able to share these stories about how impactful books and libraries are on children and their families.
Thanks to Susan Parsons from the Tablelands for this fantastic show of gratitude from a young library user.
TOWNSVILLE CITLIBRARIES
Here at Townsville, we’re in the process of adding new equipment to our Riverway Creative Hub. So far, we have 17 pieces of equipment ranging from 3D printers and laser cutters to sewing machines and CriCut’s. Most recently, we’ve added 3 new Prusa Mk4 3D printers. These machines are utterly fantastic, and we can’t wait to learn more about their operational advantages and their slick new companion software, PrusaSlicer iImage attached). With a little bit of help from our Marketing team, we are starting to see a dramatic uptake in users along with fully booked induction sessions. It’s outstanding to have such great facilities here in North Queensland. If anybody would like more information or recommendations on equipment or just general help with things like purchase justifications and risk assessments, please reach out.
Thank you to all for reading. I hope you’ve enjoyed the few brisk winter days we’ve had this year and are all set to finish the final 6 months of the calendar year strong.
If you have any good news or stories you’d like to share, please email me anytime.
