In developing the next generation of library leaders, State Library in partnership with Queensland Public Library Association (QPLA) is investing in the development and support of library staff and managers interested in progressing and building their careers within public libraries.
The Library Leaders program is open to applications from existing, emerging, and aspiring future library leaders who are passionate about public libraries and want to build on the leadership skills, knowledge, confidence, and networks needed to lead vibrant public libraries now and into the future.
About the opportunity
Over six months, participants will take part in a supported program of industry events, professional development, mentoring and network building to facilitate being exposed to a breadth of ideas and knowledge, innovative strategies and opportunities for growth.
The program begins in Brisbane in late September with participants attending the IFLA Information Futures Summit (IIFS), the ALIA Mini Conference and additional special events that further enhance engagement and connection with other program participants, State Library and QPLA reps.
Over the following six months, participants will work with a mentor on the development of a project, policy, process, or service improvement that strengthens their local public library services and contributes towards their career development. Participants will take part in State Library facilitated regional network and program meetings to share new ideas and experiences and identify cross-regional opportunities.
