Dr. Gemma John

Dr. Gemma John is Founder and Director at Human City, a spatial research, strategic design and innovation consultancy.  She was a researcher and lecturer at Edinburgh and Manchester Universities in the UK, before she became a consultant in the design and architecture industry.  She worked for the global engineering firm AECOM and internationally renowned architectural practice Foster + Partners.  She was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship in 2015 to research the changing vision for public libraries and its impact on their architectural and interior design in Europe and North America. More

Luis Herrera

Luis Herrera is the City Librarian of the San Francisco Public Library. He is responsible for the administration of the city’s 28 libraries including a main library and 27 neighborhood branches. He has served as President of both the Public Library Association and the California Library Association and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Mr. Herrera was named the Library Journal’s Librarian of the Year in 2012. He was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve on the Board of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. More
