Multicultural Excellence Award Presentation – QPLA LEaD PD Welcome Reception
The Multicultural Excellence Awards were proudly presented at the QPLA LEaD Professional Development Welcome Reception, held on Tuesday 14 October 2025 at the State Library of Queensland. These awards recognise outstanding public library services that demonstrate excellence in serving culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, including Indigenous peoples, and celebrate Australia’s rich cultural diversity.
Sponsored by CAVAL, the awards were presented by Marie Robineau.
The award aims to:
- Recognise the importance of multicultural library services
- Raise their profile within communities
- Encourage innovation and excellence
- Celebrate achievements across Queensland’s public libraries
2025 Award Recipients:
- Winner – Over 35,000 Population Category
- Townsville City Council – Deadly Digital Program 2025
- Highly Commended – Over 35,000 Population Category
- City of Moreton Bay – New Library Card -First Nations Design
- Winner – Under 35,000 Population Category
- Mount Isa City Council – Developing a multicultural collection
Unfortunately, there were limited applications received for the both categories in 2025, and the QPLA Board encourages eligible services to apply in future rounds, recognising the incredible work happening across the state in multicultural and Indigenous programming.
