Dr. Gemma John

Dr. Gemma John is Founder and Director at Human City, a spatial research, strategic design and innovation consultancy.  She was a researcher and lecturer at Edinburgh and Manchester Universities in the UK, before she became a consultant in the design and architecture industry.  She worked for the global engineering firm AECOM and internationally renowned architectural practice Foster + Partners.  She was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship in 2015 to research the changing vision for public libraries and it impact on their architectural and interior design in Europe and North America.

Gemma John will describe her findings from visiting 34 public library buildings in twelve locations in Europe and North America.  Using case-studies from her visit, she will show how design is being used as a tool to enhance the experience of customers and change the behaviour of staff, with some impressive results. More

Anders Sorman-Nilsson

Anders Sorman-Nilsson (LLB / EMBA) is a global futurist and innovation strategist who helps leaders decode trends, decipher what’s next and turn provocative questions into proactive strategies. This Australian-Swedish futurist has shared stage with Hillary Clinton, Nobel Laureates, and European and Australian heads of state. He is an active member of TEDGlobal, has keynoted at TEDx in the United States and Australia, was nominated to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders in 2015, and was the keynote speaker at the G20’s Y20 Summit in Australia. Kim Tairi is the Kaitoha Puka (University Librarian) at AUT in Auckland New Zealand. Ms Tairi spent 27 years living in Australia 20+ years of those working as a librarian in the tertiary sector. Her last Aussie gig was as the University Librarian at Swinburne University in Melbourne. She is a Bowie fangirl and runs the Library Whisperers Blog. If she could be anyone else in the world it would be Beyoncé. She is a dreamer. More
